Note: regular stomp boxes (and some guitar processors), although they do amplify the signal to some degree, won’t convert to a line level (or impedance bit again not important for this discussion) because they are designed for (more or less) unity gain (meaning the level that goes it is more or less the level that comes out). If you use line level inputs on back you have to have some kind of amplification that brings the level (and impedance but we won’t get into that here because it’s not pertinent) such as a guitar processor, to line level. Notice there’s a 1/4” hole in the middle of the mic input jack, this accommodates a 1/4” instrument jack. So if you plug the instrument direct, you have to use the inputs on the front. Line level inputs require some sort of preamp. Instrument or mic inputs are a non amplified source. On the back there are line level (only) inputs. On the front panel it has two dual microphone/instrument level inputs. Then, if I turn Input Monitoring on for that track, I can then hear the audio through the headphones (though still not the monitors).Īnything I'm missing? And should I be able to hear the guitar through the studio monitors and cans when I play? This works with the mike, but not the guitar. The track shows the green audio signal go up and down if I play a chord even though I can't hear it. However, if I arm the audio track for recording, I still can't hear anything from the guitar with the headphones on. I figured out I needed to change my input signal to Input 3 under Logic Pro. These work for the mike.Īt first I couldn't hear any guitar signal coming out of the headphones or speakers. I have headphones and studio monitor speakers for outputs from the Focusrite. I have my electric guitar plugged into a Vamp Pro which is going into the Focusrite from the back. I can hear the vocal through the headphones and monitors. The microphone input is working great with no issues. I'm using a Focusrite 6i6 and am just setting up basic testing of audio signals.
I'm having an audio issue where I can't hear the guitar input coming out of the audio interface.
